WHAT WE DO

Youth Leadership

From the life-saving Scout stories you hear in the news to the firsthand Scouting testimonials parents share about their kids, we all believe that Scouting builds leaders and shapes character in its members.

But, remember, the mission of the Boy Scouts of America (Scouts BSA) is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes.  That means the Scouts BSA continues to deliver upon its mission for years and even decades after a young person leaves the program, when a former Scout makes an honorable choice, fulfills their duty or shows trustworthiness, loyalty, helpfulness, or any other point in the Scout Law or Oath, Scouting's mission is a long-term proposition, an investment in the future.

Youth & Civic Engagement

{ 4 }

At our core, Scouts BSA aims to inspire youth to be leaders in their own lives by building the courage, confidence, and character to raise their voices and be advocates of the issues and ideas important to them.  Scouts BSA use their determination to lead every day in the fight for a clean environment, racial and gender equality., safety issues, local concerns, and so much more!

Cub Scout - Boy Scout Partnership

Pack 22 is lucky to be paired with such an inclusive and adventurous Scouts BSA Troop!  Cub Scouts are invited to attend any and all of the Troop's campouts, from the winter freeze out, to the paintball campout, to their annual Saco River clean-up trip!

The older Scouts in Troop 22 also act as mentors for the younger Cub Scouts.  Every meeting you will find several Scouts from the Troop acting as Den Chiefs, helping the younger Cub Scouts with their activities and advancements.  The Den Chiefs also run games and help plan events so the Cub Scouts' experience is kid-focused.

Cub Scouts in Pack 22 grow-up alongside their Scouts BSA brothers and sisters.  This gives our Cub Scouts the unique advantage of getting a sneak peek of all the adventures and obstacles along their path to Eagle Scout, Scouts BSA's highest rank.

Youth Development

Cub Scouting helps fulfill a child's desire for adventure and allows them to use their vivid imagination while taking part in skits, games, field trips, services projects, outdoor activites, and more.  A variety of adventrue themes let a Scout play the role of an astronaut, clown, exploerer, scientist, or other exciting characters.  Scouts find adventure in exploring the outdoors, learning about nature, and gaining a greater appreciation for our beautiful world.

While the Scouts are having fun and doing things they like to do, they also learn new things, discover  and master new skills, gain self-confidence, and develop strong friendships.

Program Evaluation

Here at Pack 22 we like to evaluate our program multiple times a year.  We have monthly committee meetings where we discuss the trajectory of the Pack, its vision, and if we are meeting those goals.  Parent feedback and participation is not only welcome, it's vital to the health and growth of the Pack.  At the end of every year we distribute surveys and encourage to families, and Cub Scouts, to fill them out.  We then make changes to our programing based on the feedback we receive from those surveys.  Our program isn't set in stone.  We're not mired in "that's the way we've always done it".  We understand in order to provide a relevant program for today's youth and families, we must continue to change with the times!

Having Fun!

Kids join Cub Scouting because they want to have fun, but fun means a lot more than just having a good time.  "Fun" is a child's code word for the satisfaction gained from meeting challenges, having friends, feeling good about theselves, and feeling they are important to other people.
